THE OG HYPE SQUAD

The OG Hype Squad getting loud as OpTic Gaming competes at CWL Dallas.

In eSports it is widely known that OpTic Gaming is one of the most dominant teams in the world. This fact especially holds true in the Call of Duty scene. The Greenwall was built in 2010, but on March, 19th 2017 in Dallas, Texas the OG Hype Squad was born.

This group of 3 was formed in attempts to create something bigger than themselves, which is exactly what they did.

The three co-founders of the movement are Dreamzy -https://twitter.com/DreamzyLive, GodDenny - https://twitter.com/GodDenny, and Bobby Blasingame - https://twitter.com/Cracker_Jackd

These 3 created the trend of the OG Hype Squad on Twitter and did so using funny fan made signs as well as being as loud as possible in the front row of the venue whenever OpTic Gaming competed.

Their presence quickly caught on and many of the OpTic members joined in on bringing the hype alongside them.

Their ability to get the crowd going went viral and everyone wanted a piece of the action. Some highlights of the group attending CWL Dallas are below:

With this new addition to the Greenwall, it is just another factor to help OpTic have an edge over their opponents while completing at the events.

In the future, the OG Hype Squad plans on attending MLG Anaheim and continuing their run as the most hype audience in eSports.

MLG ANAHEIM

MLG Anaheim is infamous for being an iconic event.
When it comes to events, it is without question that MLG is the best of the best.

Their level of production, smooth bracket play, choice of location, and amount of dedicated fans help solidify their spot at the top.

Despite large numbers of attendees in Atlanta and Dallas, MLG has plans for Anaheim to be the biggest event of the year.

With so many storylines leading up to the event at the Anaheim Convention Center on June 16th through the 18th, the event is without a doubt the fan favorite in terms of any venue being held throughout the course of the year.

MLG has released a video via their twitter to showcase some of the highlights as to what you can expect from the event, watch it below.
Not only is MLG Anaheim going to be for $200,000 but it is also the next chance for any player who had previously failed to make the league, display their talent and prove their worth for Season 2.

There are many high caliber players who fell short of their chance to make the league this time including the likes of Spacely, Parasite, ProFeezy, Goonjar, and Remy.

These players still have a lot left to prove during this Infinite Warfare season and plan on working until they make it.

They went to Twitter to display their frustrations with the way they have performed at CWL Dallas and how they look to change things for the near future.
With the event just about 3 months away, it will be interesting to see if any more roster changes happen and where everyone will end up come time for the tournament.

In terms of placings, OpTic will look to continue their 2 event run and compete with some of their top tier competition such as eUnited, FaZe, and Splyce.

This event will be nothing short of excellence as the fans, players, and staff will bring a lot of energy to the venue to add to the electric environment.

If you are interested in attending the event and seeing the action live tickets are available here: http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/cwlanaheim

NGE: NATIONAL GAMING EVENTS

The journey for the now founder and owner of NGE Events, Sean Chase, has been a long and worth while experience. Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, Sean had always played sports throughout high school. Through sports he met a friend who would go on to change his life for the better. This friend had introduced him to the infamous video game, Halo 2. Sean quickly fell in love with the game and became addicted to the video game.

After high school, he went on to college and him and his friend who had introduced him to video games went their separate ways. Although, that departure wasn't the end of the road for these two... they crossed paths again. This time his friend had offered Sean a position that would change his life forever. This position was becoming the Outreach Manager at GAU- "Gamers Are Us" in 2014 during the Call Of Duty Ghosts season. His duties were to bring gamers together and spreading awareness about their events in the New England Area to increase attendance at the venue. This job had interested him so much that he went on to create his own event hosting company.

In 2015, Sean Chase had left GAU and took a shot at his own attempt to try and be successful in the scene. Thus, EGU- or "Elite Gamers United" was born. Collaborating with AVGL- "American Video Game League" to host his events, he operated four successful LAN events for the Advanced Warfare season. During this year Sean thought it was time for a change and rebranded the company. The newly renovated name had been changed to NEG- "New England Gaming" to create a better idea of what the brand stood for at the time. Holding only two events under the new name during Advanced Warfare he was ready for the transition to the newest installment of CoD, Black Ops III.

It was finally time for Black Ops III and Sean was ready to host more events for his community that he had built. Throughout the BO3 season LAN events were over saturated by the likes of NJROD and ETG and attendance was hard to come by. One final change to the companies name lead to an increase of relatable outreach. Before the start of Infinite Warfare, the change from NEG to NGE- "National Gaming Events". This change was finalized because Sean wanted to "Have one solid name to reach out to more people". His vision is exactly what he executed, with a large following on social media. He has always been big on loyalty and building a close knit community. He stated that "it is insane to see what has unfolded with these events." He is amazed at what has happened and how quickly and successfully he has created a guaranteed environment for his community. He follows this motto for his brand "family first, community second."

When there aren't any events being organized, there is another side to NGE other than LAN's. There is also a successful online league which allows players to have a weekly schedule and matches. The league runs around the clock Monday through Sunday and has matches everyday via their 26 teams who compete in the league. It is a great opportunity to gain experience without the hassle of traveling to LAN events. These matches are recorded, CodCasted, and stats are tracked to help players "build their name in the scene." There is an $800 prize pool for the winning team at the end of the season.

During the early stages of the league, Jeff "Jand" Andrews reached out to Sean Chase on Twitter and was interested in helping out with the league as a whole. He is now the lead man for all league operations, and is the main caster for their Twitch channel. In the future Jand anticipates growing and moving up the ladder. He wants to help NGE grow and learn the business side of eSports.

When we asked Sean and Jeff what eSports means to them these were their responses:
Sean- "It's a non-traditional way to bring people together, who wouldn't normally come together. It has evolved into bringing gamers together instead of isolating them. It gives a feeling of acceptance."
Jand- "Its my life, it is 'the dream' in terms of hopes of a career."

Who is The Man Behind The Pixel?

Hello,

I am Kody Miles from Rochester, New York. I am currently enrolled as a freshman in college. I am majoring in communications and have hopes to minor in social media. Although that is probably new information to anyone reading this, you all know me as "The Pixel".

This post is to give you a look into my life and 'Meet the man behind The Pixel'. I am an avid follower of eSports and sports as a whole. My entire life I've always been competitive and love to win but hate to lose. Some of my hobbies include playing sports, particularly volleyball. Other than sports video games have always been my passion and I've always tried to turn my passion into a career. As some of you may know I founded and operated an eSports organization, Torch Gaming. That endeavor taught me more about the business side of eSports than any other experience I've had in the scene. I met a ton of people, networked with other organizations, and created some of the best memories of my life with the people I worked closely with. I worked hard for everything that I learned during my days with Torch Gaming and still apply those same principles in the way I handle business to this day.

Aside from gaming I also enjoy creating. I love social media, YouTube, fashion, and music. These four areas are a big part in my day to day life. I am constantly keeping up with the latest trends and staying aware of whats going on in each of those communities. I have provided a lot of insight and help with people social medias along with successfully knowing what to post and when to post it on my own personal accounts. I have studied and learned what works and what doesn't. I have learned to market things in a relatable way to insure interaction with the viewers. One of my side passions is YouTube, I love to create videos, edit and vlog. I have taken inspiration from some of todays most successful and innovative YouTuber's such as Hitch, Nadeshot, and most importantly Casey Neistat. As far as fashion and music goes, I am in love with the rap genre and culture. I always have the newest music, clothes, and shoes. I pride myself in staying trendy and looking good.

In the future I intend maintaining my passions and creating a career out of something I love. I am traveling all the way across country to a state I've never been to in less than 3 weeks. On March 17th I will be attending MLG Dallas in hopes to network and meet some of the biggest names in eSports. My goal is to meet with people I aspire to work with and see if they will give me a chance. My vision is to provide amazing and innovative content for you viewers as well via blogs and YouTube content. I will make it my mission to make something special out of this trip and receive my shot from one of the biggest organizations in the scene today. Mark my words that after MLG Dallas, I will have recognition and I will be determined to prove everyone wrong. Whoever takes their chance on me will get the best and most hardworking content that they will ever receive I'm ready to make a career out of my hobbies and pursue my passions.

FaZe Clan: The Kings of Content

In terms of content on YouTube there are a lot of big names that come to mind, OpTic, Syndicate, PewDiePie. Although those channels have huge followings and subscriber counts, on the eSports side of things FaZe Clan holds the number one spot.
With a wide variety of content posted on the FaZe members channels, it offers something for everyone. One thing that makes the content so successful is the fact that they all live in a mansion and collaborate together for each of their videos.

The FaZe house moved from New York to LA and the switch increased their content production tremendously. The personalities that live in the house are Rain, Apex, Cheo, Blaziken, Adapt, Temper, Nikan, and Teeqo. These content creators lead eSports on YouTube and produce daily content and entertaining videos for their fans. Their content includes, food challenges, vlogs, gameplay, pranks, and much more.

Here is an in depth look at the FaZe House LA :

5 Things Everyone in the eSports Industry Should be Doing

Recently, eSports has been reaching heights it has never seen before. With appearances on national television, Snapchat, and at events all over the globe eSports is successfully taking over as the new wave of entertainment. Along with this growth it is essential that everyone that takes part in the industry treat it correctly and with care. There are 5 key characteristics or traits that are essential that everyone in the community should have.

1. Consistency

Consistency is the number one most important thing that people must develop if they want to thrive in the scene. Consistency is the largest factor in gaining an audience and retaining peoples attention throughout a persons career. Without consistency people can't rely on a person or brand that they might follow or look up to.

2. Networking

Networking is another great tool to have in terms of trying to grow on the business side of eSports. It holds true that its not what you know, but who you know. Knowing and building relationships with people in the community help maintain a strong image on your part. When people see that other people are constantly trying to work with you or collaborate with you, it says a lot about who you are and how you operate your business.

3. Connecting

Connecting is not to be confused with networking. Connecting in essence means having a following and interacting with them. When you engage your audience it helps spread a more positive outcome and allows you to receive feedback. A fanbase is the driving force of any successful brand or company. Without the viewers, followers, or subscribers there is know "you". Giving back to your loyal following is the key to creating a healthy and happy relationship with them.

4. Credibility

The ability to remain a credible and straight forward source of information is the stepping stone to people relying on you and trusting you to have the correct and accurate information. Sometimes the truth is hard to convey but it is always the most viable option when developing a brand. When people believe in your message they send their following to you because they believe in your movement and vision and trust that it will be pure. Credibility is essential to have, because once you get a negative image its hard to come back from. Be sure to always check your facts and do your research in order to ensure a positive credibility image.

5.  Remaining Humble

Being humble is an overlooked feature in people that can be hard to find in this day and age. With success sometimes people let it get to their head and start to develop an ego. When you allow yourself to have an ego you're really only hurting yourself and making people not want to work with or be associated with you. Remaining humble is almost an intangible trait to have because it is a difficult skill to attain. To be humble is to respect everyones opinions, even if they oppose your own viewpoints. You must always see all sides of the spectrum and see it from multiple perspectives in order to allow yourself to acquire a broad overview of the situation. Once you are able to do that, every experience should be humbling from that point on.

THE TOP 16 COD POWER RANKINGS FOR MLG DALLAS

With MLG Dallas soon approaching, there is a heavy contention for the top spot in the pro points standings. Being that MLG Dallas is only a short 3 weeks away, some of the MLG casters have released their top 16 team rankings heading into the event. The $200,000 event featuring 176 of the best Call of Duty talent in the world are set to battle it out for the pro points and the cash prize on March 17th-19th. The event will be held in Fort Worth, Texas at the famous Fort Worth Convention Center.
This event will be the last attempt for teams to make it into the Pro League based upon their pro point standings. With OpTic, FaZe, and eUnited already having enough points to make the league I think these rankings are accurate at this point in time. The only things that I have to say about the rankings as of right now are that I feel as if PNDA Gaming should be a couple spots higher at the 11th or 12th spot. I also believe that Splyce should have the edge over Infused, but we will se what goes down at the MLG Dallas Open! Although the running is tough the MLG casters have narrowed it down their top 16 picks in this video.

Torch Gaming: The Local LAN Legends

In December of 2015, 3 friends started a movement that would be considered the best brand that any local LAN had ever seen. During a snow storm in Upstate New York; Kody "sparK" Miles, Josh "Shocker" Bardeen, and Tony "Voltage" Park sat in a local pizza shop struggling to create a marketable name to brand their newly founded eSports organization. After countless ideas tossed around they finally stumbled upon a name that they all agreed on. Thus, Torch Gaming was conceived and the movement had begun.
The #TorchTakeOver was what the players, fans, and community had coined the Torch Gaming movement as. The journey began at a small 2v2 Team Deathmatch tournament in Saratoga Springs, New York. The 3 friends who had founded Torch packed their things and drove 3 hours to this small event and won the event and brought home $300. This win sparked the mindset that anything was possible and nothing was stopping us. In addition to winning this event we made friends with Connor "Vizionz" Cleveland. Vizionz told us that one day he would join Torch Gaming and thats exactly what he did. Vizionz became a staple of the Torch TakeOver and he was our first pick up in the organization. Our first official LAN was ETG 11, with the founders networking and making connections in the scene Torch was gaining rapid success and receiving a mass of fans.

The first NJROD event attended by Torch was accompanied by their friend Marc Arimenta or as everyone in the eSports community knows him by, "Big Marc".  The addition of Marc to Torch was a tremendous pickup and he helped us to grow even more than we already were. With the growth, came more apparel, hats, wristbands, and banners.

Gaining a huge following, Torch was looking to expand as they attended the GameOnLLC event in Pittsburgh, PA. This event would lead to some of the connections that would only progress Torch into the next level. At this event Torch had acquired a new team, a PS4 team. This team would include Sonixs, Jaayy, Dynasty, and Parish.

ETG 12 was the peak of Torch Gaming, with the feud between NJROD and ETG regarding who ran a better event they were also battling for the Torch crew to choose their event. ETG offered free G Fuel to everyone if we attended their event.

Attending ETG 12 was the best choice we could've ever done because it lead to even more growth with in the company. One such opportunity was the acquisition of a 18+ team to compete at MLG Anaheim. This team was set to play under the Torch brand and represent us in the Golden State. The team included Mosh, Pemby, ProFeeZy, and Gunless. Some of todays top talent in the Call of Duty eSports scene. This team eventually fell through and opted out and played for themselves under the name in2ition.

Despite all the growth, the inevitable end of Torch was bound to happen. With 2 of the 3 founding members leaving for college there simply wasn't enough time in the day to run an organization successfully and efficiently. In June 2016, Torch Gaming came to an end, and the local LAN legends were no more.

THE REVENGE OF OPTIC GAMING

Coming into the ESWC event in Paris, it was obvious that OpTic Gaming was the clear cut team who wanted it more than anyone else. In our previous post the main storyline was "The revenge of OpTic Gaming" and the Green Wall came in strong and proved to everyone why they were still the most dominant team in all of Call Of Duty.

OpTic managed to make their way all the way through the winners bracket without dropping  single map. An unheard of achievement that hasn't happened in a very long time and most likely won't happen again in the near future. OpTic stormed their way through the competition and defeated FaZe Clan in the grand finals and delivered a 3-0 sweep to take home the gold.

This will be OpTic Gaming's 3rd ESWC championship in a row proving time and time again why they are the best of the best when it comes to performing at the highest level. This will be Ian "Crimsix" Porter's 5th ESWC championship he now has more gold from Paris than any other competitor. This 5th title will help add on to his many historic championship finishes and help make his legacy that much more prestigious.

This win from the boys in green should only motivate them to win the next event in Dallas. MLG Dallas will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center March 17-19th and will feature teams from all around the globe. The momentum from Paris will carry over for OpTic and they will seek yet another 1st place finish in the lone star state.

3 of the Biggest Storylines To Look Out For At CWL Paris

With CWL Paris just 2 days away, there are a lot of storylines heading into the $100,000 tournament. 96 teams will have the chance to battle it out for the top spot and opportunity to take home the money, pro points, and glory. Although with any major event, comes major storylines to be aware of.

1. The Revenge of OpTic Gaming

Coming off of their 2nd place finish falling short to eUnited at the CWL Atlanta Open, OpTic Gaming is very hungry for a 1st place victory. The last time OpTic has won an event was 6 months ago, on August 7th, 2016. Their victory came from the MLG Orlando Open during the Call of Duty Black Ops III season. The OpTic roster is considered to be the "best of the best" proclaimed by the fans and their competitors alike. They hold themselves to a higher standard and expect to win any given event. Despite the heartbreaking loss after an event full of comebacks from OpTic they shared their thoughts on Twitter and are optimistic that they will bring home a victor to the #GreenWall soon.

2. European Teams

A controversial topic in terms of the Call of Duty World League lately has been if European teams deserve their place. Certainly the recent showings of teams such as Infused, Splyce, and Elevate go to show that Europe is a force to be reckoned with. With the recent release of the pools, 8 out of the 12 teams are European and the rest of the North American teams must fight their way through the open bracket. To stay updated with the tournament as it progresses be sure to follow the widget below.

3. Open Bracket

The open bracket for this event is filled with some of the best competition that Call of Duty has to offer. Only 4 teams who placed top 8 at CWL Atlanta made it into pool play and the other 4 are in the open bracket. The 4 teams who did not make pool play and have to battle their way into a pool are eUnited, Team Envyus, Luminosity, and PNDA Gaming. Those are just a few big names who are competing throughout open bracket. Other serious threats in the open bracket include the likes of Epsilon, Enigma 6, Allegiance, Evil Geniuses, and Team Kaliber. To say the least the audience is in for a treat during this event, as the open bracket will be a fierce and heavy competition featuring the biggest names in eSports.

The Secret to Simp's Success?

Christopher "Simp" Lehr,

It has been nearly 10 years since the young up and coming star in the Call of Duty eSports community has started playing video games. At the age of just 5 years old, the now well known Call of Duty amateur, Simp started playing Super Mario Party on the Gamecube and hasn't looked back since. Heavily influenced by the professional Call of Duty player OpTic Scump, Simp sees many resemblances in the way they both started to compete at a young age. Chris stated that "He [Scump] started while he was young and I would like to follow." showing that it takes true motivation and passion to start and pursue the career at a young age. In his early gaming career, Simp grew up playing Gears of War, Halo and Call of Duty under the gamertag "Simplicity". Throughout his success people would shorten his name to "Simp" and thus the player and personality that we know today was born. The turning point in his overwhelming success from casual to competitive gaming took place in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Simp recalls realizing "I had the skill to do something more than just be a casual player." That realization was a critical moment for him as he started traveling to local LAN's such as NJROD in Pennsylvania, and ETG in Long Island, New York. In 2015, Chris attended his first event held by ETG. He went on to win 1 out of the 5 events he attended that year, which is not an easy feat considering it was the start of his competitive career as well as the record breaking number set by teams who attended. 2016 brought a whole new level of success for Simp, it was undoubtedly his time to shine. Throughout the year, he went on to win all 12 of the  events he attended. This was a groundbreaking year in his career as he also joined Naventic, a large eSports organization involved with a lot of different games and internet personalities. Despite having big time success, Simp was hindered from taking the next step and competing in the Call of Duty World League. The Call of Duty World League is essentially the NBA or NFL of eSports, it is where the true "best of the best" compete. There is only one thing stopping him from taking it to the next level and that is "The 18+ Rule". This rule states that anyone under the age of 18 can not and will not be permitted to play in major LAN events held by Major League Gaming or the Call of Duty World League until they are of age to do so. This rule is in place to keep the immaturity of the younger players out of the league and to maintain a good image in the media. Simp mentions "I don't think they will change the 18+ rule anytime soon. They did it to try and mature Call of Duty, and if we want to be a large eSport then we need maturity, plain and simple." On February 9th, 2019 Simp will finally be able to compete in the major events. Until then he can watch eSports blossom into potentially something as big as the NFL and continue to compete and make revenue at amateur events. Simp stated that if the 18+ rule didn't exist that he could see himself playing at the professional level and continuing to grind his way to the top. Although he hasn't competed at the highest level yet, he has already made around $15,000 from tournaments and events which he has invested most of the money back into his gaming setup. With the start of 2017 he has already won the first event for the newest addition of Call of Duty, Infinite Warfare. It has been a long journey thus far for Christopher "Simp" Lehr, and it's just getting started.
